Preparing Your Items
Please carefully review all preparation, tagging and acceptable/unacceptable item instructions before proceeding. We reserve the right to not accept an item if it does not meet our guidelines.
Here are some items that you should have together and ready to make tagging and prepping easy!
- INK! Make sure you have plenty of ink in your printer
- Card stock - White, 60 lb, 8 1/2 X 11 (important not to use regular paper..card stock holds up better)
- Scissors
- Child Size Plastic hangers
- Iron or clothes steamer
- Safety pins - Sturdy ones..sizes medium & large
- Tape - scotch, masking & clear packing tape
- Plastic Wrap (like saran)
- Hole punch
- Gallon size plastic bags
- Orange highlighter pen/marker
- Zip ties - Great for grouping hangers together..also used for shoes
Log into your consignor account. Begin entering your items, filling in all the necessary areas. NOTE Please be as descriptive as possible in the item's description area. For example say "Gap Pink long sleeve flower shirt" instead of "Long sleeve pink shirt". Long sleeve can be abbreviated to L/S and short sleeve S/S. Use sizes such as 12months instead of small, medium or large. Description is key to making sure what is being sold it what the tag says it is. This is important to eliminating any "tag switching" by anyone.
Below are a few suggestions for pricing. Competitively price your items to sell. What would you pay? Normally 25-30% of retail is a good general figure to go by. Keep in mind that during these economic times retail stores are offering good deals. Our shoppers will be looking for GREAT deals. We'd rather give you a bigger check than a lot of unsold items. Look below if you would like suggested prices for clothing and other items. Remember these are only suggestions. Consider what you would pay and price to sell.
There is a minimum price of $2 and all prices are in whole dollars. If necessary, group some items together as outfits or lots if they aren't something that could sell for $2 on their own. This is true for toys and accessories as well as clothes.
You will be asked when entering you items whether you want to discount... This is for our 50% off Final Day Sale. You can choose to sell any of your remaining items for 50% the original price on that day. This is done by individual item entered so that you may choose to discount some and not others. We strongly encourage our consignors to discount on the final day. It beats bringing home unsold items or donating items that you could have made at least some extra money on.
You will also have the option to donate your unsold items at the end of the sale. We recommend this for any items left after the full price and 50% off sales although it is completely understood if you choose not to. All items marked for donation will be given to a local charity who can really use them.
Pricing Suggestions
Pricing is ENTIRELY up to you... these are simply suggestions based on what we have seen items sell for. If your items don't sell, it is generally because they were priced too high. Best way to decide is to ask yourself what you would pay for it if you saw it at a sale... or ask a friend to tell you what they'd pay! Consider the name brand and quality (if the item is new with tags or gently used) when figuring your price.

Toys sell pretty much the same as clothing...for 25%-30% of original retail. There are some brands and items that sell for up to half of their original prices... Some of them include: outdoor play items (slides, houses, ride on toys), kitchens and larger "pretend play items". Step 2, Fisher Price & many learning toys such as Leap Frog, Vtech, etc.
Once you are through inputting, print your tags on the 60lb card stock. Be sure that you have enough ink to print as the bar codes will not scan correctly with low ink. Cut each tag out and you are ready to attach them to your items.... NOTE: If you ARE donating your items, please highlight the "donate yes" area on your printed tag in ORANGE using a marker or highlighter. These are the items being given to charity if they do not sell. You will NOT be receiving these items back.
**Important!** When using tape, please do not tape over the bar code on the tag. The item will not scan if there is tape over the bar code
Tagging Clothing
- The better the clothes look the better they sell. Please be sure that your clothes are current, freshly washed, ironed, on hangers, and free of stains, broken zippers, tears, and signs of wear.
- All clothing should be placed on hangers with the hook facing left like a question mark. Child sized plastic coated wire hangers can be purchased at Wal-Mart and Dollar stores. You can also go to children's stores in the outlet malls and ask for their leftover hangers.
- If you don't have pant hangers, use regular child hanger and pin the pants to the top 2 sides of a hanger using 2 pins as in graphic below. Each pin passes through the front and back of the pants and through the hanger (top part) for a secure hold.
- Attach the tag with a safety pin near the upper right side of the garment as shown in the picture below. TIP: Place a piece of tape over the (pin here) part of the tag and then use a hole punch to make holes for a safety pin to attach the tag to your clothing. This helps secure the tag better. Also, place a piece of tape over the safety pin after you place it on the item. Tagging guns are also perfect for attached tags to your clothing. They can be purchased on Ebay for less than $10 including the barbs.

- When hanging an outfit that includes pants or skirt, hang the pants or skirt with the shirt so that they can both be easily seen. Hang the shirt and then turn the shirt around so that you are facing the back of the shirt, then safety pin the top of the pants to the shoulders of the shirt. Grasp the lines of the hanger in the safety pin as well so the pants do not pull down the shirt.
- If the outfit has accessories, such as hair bows, socks, etc, place them in a plastic bag and securely pin it to the items.
- Do not use Ziploc bags for clothing, onesies, or pajamas. Shoppers do not want to buy clothing that they can not see. All clothing items must be on hangers. Consider grouping 2-3 onesies together on hangers.
- If you have items you want to sell together you have two options: hang one on the hanger and pin the shoulders of the others to the one on the hanger with the pins grasping the hanger as well, OR put each item on its own hanger and rubber-band the hangers together. Please do not group items together if they are not the same size.
- If a shirt has a wide neck and doesn't stay on the hanger well, safety pin the shirt onto the hanger near the shoulders or neck to ensure that the shirt stays on.
Tagging Shoes
- Please bring only like new shoes that are in excellent condition. Most shoes can be machine washed and will come out looking great! Use a Zip tie (these can be bought at the Dollar store) and put them through a shoe lace hole or a sandal strap, punch holes in the tag like above and secure the zip tie.
Tagging Infant Accessories
- Items such as towels, wash clothes, burp clothes, receiving blankets, bibs, etc can be placed in gallon size zip lock bags. These items should all be free on any stains, etc just like the clothing. Please be VERY descriptive about what is in the bag. Try and fold the item so that most/all of the design on it is showing. Do not over stuff the bag. Securely tape your tag to the outside of the bag.
Tagging Toys, Puzzles, Books, Videos, Decor Items
- Please make certain that all pieces of an item are securely fastened together and that your item is complete. You may use packaging tape, Ziploc bags, clear plastic containers, etc. but please make sure that all the items are secure. Attach the tag securely. Please DO NOT tape books closed but DO tape DVD boxes closed. Please make every effort not to use tape where it will damage the item when it is removed.
- If the item requires batteries, they should be included.
- Toys should be well cleaned and put together.
- Small items can be placed in Ziploc bags or containers. The buyer must be able to see what is inside the container. The bag/container's contents should be thoroughly described on the tag.
- HINT for puzzles and games. Place your tag on the underside of the box or puzzled board to avoid damage when it is removed. Use scotch tape. Puzzled that are too big to be place in Zip lock bags should be wrapped in plastic wrap.
Tagging Bedding and Window Treatments
- It is BEST to bring your bedding in a clear bedding bag, like the bedding was purchased in. This allows the shoppers to easily see the bedding without needing to take it out. It also keeps smaller items like pillowcases and bed skirts with the bedding. Photos are helpful if you do not have the original bag insert.
- If you do not have a bedding bag, an alternative that we highly recommend are the new XL and XXL sized Ziploc bags. They come 3-4 to a box and you can get them at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Place a photo of the items in clear view so the shopper can see what is inside.
- Window treatments may be folded or hung on a hanger. A photo of them hanging is helpful.
Tagging Large Items
- On large items simply tape the tag to the item for easy viewing and removal. If the item includes extra parts please make note of them in the item's description, place them in a bag, if possible, and secure them to the item.
- Pack N Plays need to be assembled when you arrive. Attach the carrying case to the Pack n Play with a zip tie if possible, otherwise it can be pinned. Tag the item in full view using a zip tie. Reinforce the top of the tag with packing tape before punching a hole to avoid it accidentally getting separated during the sale.
- Please make every effort not to use tape where it will damage the item when it is removed.
- IMPORTANT: Place masking tape with your consignor number and price on the bottom or underneath side of each large item in addition to the tag. This helps identify your item in case the tag is lost.
- Make sure that you have all the necessary tools with to assemble your items. We will have limited tools, etc on site.
IMPORTANT TAGGING DETAILS
- Minimum price is $2. Only $1 increments please. NO CENTS.
- Remember to place masking or packing tape with your consignor number and price on the bottom of each large item IN ADDITION TO THE TAG. This helps identify your item is the tag is lost. Please DO NOT put a duplicate tag on the item.
- Items with no price and/or consignor number will not be sold and those items will be placed on the lost & found table for consignors to pick up after the sale is over. PLEASE secure tags as best as possible so that your item has a chance to sell. PLEASE do not cover any part of the bar code with tape.
- Competitively price your items to sell. What would you pay? Normally 25-30% of retail is a good general figure to go by. We'd rather give you a bigger check than a lot of unsold items. See our Pricing Suggestions section for more details.
- We are available for any help you need during this process. Just send us an email with any questions and we will get back to you asap. To make this successful for all of us we all need to work together so let us know how we can help!
- If items have more than one piece, please mark the item "1 of 2", "2 of 2".. and state the number of pieces on the Tag.
- Please don't forget!!! If you ARE donating your items, please highlight the "donate yes" area on your printed tag in ORANGE using a marker or highlighter. These are the items being given to charity if they do not sell. You will NOT be receiving these items back.
Extra Selling Tips
- Make your item look brand new. The more time you take to wash and iron your clothing, the better it will look to a buyer. Also, button all the buttons, zip zippers, tie bows, etc.
- Grease stains: Use Dawn dish washing liquid. Rub into the stain and wash as normal. Occasionally it will take treating twice.
- Yellow stains: Mix about 1/2 cup dish washing detergent (such as Cascade) with 1/2 cup Clorox 2 (the pink liquid) in about 1-2 gallons of water. Soak the stained item in the mixture for several hours, then wash as usual. Works for other types of stains as well.
- Magic erasers work great on toy surfaces. Hard to reach areas can be cleaned with a scrub brush or toothbrush.
